Manoa's lush green valley gets more rain than most of Honolulu, so fields and lawns are often damp and showers tend to come and go. That isn't all bad: a wet ball skids and speeds up, and learning to control it is a real game skill.

Not at all. A wet ball moves faster and skids, so players learn to cushion their first touch and strike through the ball cleanly. Those habits carry over to every surface.
